Valentine’s Day has passed, and it has made me reflect on some things that I have noticed throughout the day. I overheard a few people discussing how annoying it was to hear about Galentines Day the day before. Honestly, I do not understand why so many people felt the need to comment on this (which were mainly people who were in relationships).
Valentine’s Day is a holiday to celebrate the person you care about that also cares about you. Just because you're in a relationship romantically doesn't mean other types of relationships can't be celebrated. Therefore, if women want to spend Galentine's day with their friends the day before, then they should be able to without getting criticized for it.
Who declared Valentine's Day to only be for those in romantic relationships? People act as if being single on this one day of the year, defines on if you have failed at life or not.
It's a fail if this is the only day you do get shown, love. You should surround yourself with people who genuinely care about you every day of the year. That goes for any relationship. If you build a foundation on trust and appreciation, then that relationship has a better chance of lasting. If you build it on judgments and resentment, then that relationship is destined to collapse. So let these women who are lucky enough to have friends that genuinely care about them enjoy themselves.
